A question which is often asked but remains unanswered is how do you know what the best technology is, especially since it’s in abundance? Clarion School had a similar question, as they had already invested in a wide variety of technology-based products within the school. The school wanted to ensure that their mission to ignite and keep alive each child’s endless quest for discovery be met and students have hands on learning opportunities whilst developing their 21st century skills.
At Innov8 Tech we evaluate what technology is already present in school and how it can be used across multiple subject areas for project-based learning and to develop STEAM concepts. At Clarion School we used the schools existing technology and designed lessons to link to other subject areas allowing children to make connections in their learning. We’ve organised parent workshops at the school to allow carers an opportunity to understand what happens within the classroom and ways in which they can support their child’s learning journey.
Innov8 Tech offers consultancy and supports schools to develop their innovation strategies and innovative learning environments. Technology is a rapidly evolving sector and is constantly changing. Would you invest all your money into one product or then spread it across different areas, such as AI, IoT, robotics, drones, 3d printing, etc? At Innov8 Tech we always recommend schools to start with 15 pieces of a product which is enough for a class of 30 (1:2 pupil to product ratio). After using the product and understanding the impact, you can always buy more. Invest in products that can be used across multiple year groups, but in different ways so that progression is evident.
We use a design thinking approach to allow students to collaborate with peers whilst problem solving. In practice, the design process is a structured framework for identifying challenges, gathering information, generating potential solutions, refining ideas, and testing solutions.
